Finding help on the University of Michigan campus can be
very difficult, especially when you are feeling bad. But
if you are struggling, be aware that the campus does have
resources available to you. The main source of counseling
for undergraduate students is Counseling and Psychological
Services (CAPS), which counsels undergraduates on a range
of issues, from stress and relationships to psychological
disorders like depression and eating disorders. Besides
CAPS, other more individualized services are available,
such as the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Coalition
(SAPAC) or Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD),
which gives academic counseling to students with mental
health issues. In crises, contact the UM Psych ER,
where you will be evaluated within the day by a mental health
professional.
If you feel that you are being treated unfairly or are
simply not getting the help you need, check out our “Advocates”
page. Finding Voice has compiled a list of advocates around
the university who have volunteered to help students like
you. Contact an advocate so that you can get the treatment
you deserve. Finding Voice is also available to listen to
your concerns and to advocate for you.
